Maa Tara Chandi Temple is one of the most ancient and famous temples of India. One of the “Maha Shakti Peeth”, Maa Tara Chandi Temple is the temple of Durga. It is believed that the ‘Netra’ or ‘Eye’ of Maa Sati fall her during her self-immolation. Sitting on the hilltop, Maa Tara Chandi Temple also has beautiful natural attraction apart from having divine and pure environment. ChandanSaheed is the mosque or tomb situated near to the Maa Tara Chandi Temple. The tomb was believed to be built by the Mughal Emperor Jahangir and it serves as one of the most interesting places in Sasaram. Ashokan inscription is also found atop of Chandan Saheed and clearly suggests the existence of the civilization during the Mauryan times.Gupta Mahadev Temple is another temple which is believed to be very old and also mythologically very important. It is situated on the Kaimur Hills of Sasaram. The temple is situated inside an ancient cave. It is believed that Bhasmasura was killed by Lord Vishnu while he chased Lord Shiva to experiment his blessings.
