The historic city of Sasaram is located 160 km away from the capital city of Patna in the State of Bihar. Sasaram is administrative headquarter of Rohtas district located at the border of Jharkhand. Kalka Mail, Purushottam Exp, Mahabodhi Exp, Ranchi Garib Rath, Kolkata Mail, Jodhpur Exp, and Chambal Exp halts at the station of Sasaram. From July 2011, the Indian Railway has started a weekly AC train connection Sasaram with New Delhi.

Shared autos run between the distances less than half kilometer to several kilometers.
